Think of a time when you have tried to change or improve something in your life such as giving up cigarettes, losing weight, excising and more. Like most people, you probably purchased or used some kind of aid like diet pills, medications, a workout center membership or patches. Now, many of you most likely saw some pretty positive results for a period of time. However, you most likely ended up returning back to your old ways.
This is because when we try to change, we are trying to fix the physical action but doing nothing for the mental part which is actually the force that controls every single aspect of our lives right down to our decision making processes. And so although it is possible and even pretty easy to control the “here and now” part of our minds it is difficult to control the “recorded” elements that produce automatic actions.
Now, some folks reading this blog might be thinking “yeah right, I have total control over my own mind and what I do.” Think again! Here is a quick test you can perform right now as you are reading this blog. Raise your left or right arm up in the air, hold it up in the air for 5 seconds then put it back down. I’ll wait while you do this……..
Ok so you most likely had no problems performing this action. Great job!! Raising your arm and putting it down is an action that you have learned and have been doing almost since birth. And counting to 5 is also something that you learned at a young age. And so, all in all this was pretty easy for most people to do and this shows that you can control your actions with your mind right? We shall see…
Let’s move onto part 2 of the test. I want you to blink your eyes 5 times. All finished? Again for most people this should have proven to be a simple task and therefore, you have so far proven that you have very good control over your actions. EXCELENT!!!
Now here is part 3. You already know that you CAN control your arms and eyelid muscles with you mind because you were able to raise your arms and blink your eyes. Now, since you have total control over your actions, I want you to talk your mind into keeping your eyelids open without blinking. Remember that you used your mind to put your arm up and down and also to blink your eyes. So talking yourself into keeping your eyes open should be no problem. If or when you do blink your eyes you can continue reading on.
Ok, so if you are reading this next paragraph you failed the total mind control test because you told yourself not to blink your eyes yet you ended up doing so. What happened? Well, your mind basically told you to take a hike and decided on its own that it was not going to listen to your reasoning. And so, when your mind sensed that your eyes were getting dry, the automatic reaction caused you to blink no matter how determined you were to keep from doing so.
So let’s sum this all up. The mind records involuntary actions that will be needed in the future such as blinking your eyes, the beating of your heart, digesting food and more. Unfortunately, the definition of the word Habit is an acquired pattern of behavior that has become almost involuntary as a result of frequent repetition. Since habits like snacking on junk food, smoking cigarettes, fingernail biting and more become involuntary, you no longer need to tell your mind that you would like to perform these actions and they become second nature. The downside is that when it comes to a point when you want to stop doing these things, because they are now involuntary quitting is as difficult as keeping your eyes open without blinking.
This is the main reason why we so often hear people say that they had quit smoking for “X” number of years but started right back up again. Or that they lost “X” number of pounds but gained it all back. Quitting these habits with your mind alone make work for a while, however just like keeping your eyes open, your mind is going to keep saying “take a hike” until you finally give back into temptation. Now, we can try to rely on items that trick us. For example, stop smoking patches and gum supply us with nicotine and diet pills trick our minds into thinking that we are full. But using these items makes about as much sense as me constructing some kind of clamp to keep my eyelids from closing. Sure this clamp will keep them open while I am using it. However, as soon as I remove this clamp I will blink my eyes again. Therefore did I really fix anything?
The conclusion – while hypnosis does not truly “erase” involuntary actions, it does reprogram them so that the ending result is not the same. For example, I can’t erase eating from your memory but I can make it so that you crave carrot sticks instead of junk food when you get hungry. And I can’t erase cigarettes from your memory but I can make it so that instead of reaching for that smoke, instead you naturally reach for a glass of water or feel the urge to take a walk. So you see, this is why hypnosis works while other things fail. It gives us the opportunity to change where the habit truly lives…our minds.

Do we control our mind…or does it control us?
As human beings, we like to think that we are always in total control of all our actions and thoughts. After all, accepting otherwise would make us feel vulnerable or maybe even weak to some degree. So how much control do we really have? The answer may surprise you. The reason for this blog post is to conduct a little experiment, which will show you just how little control we have over what we think and do.
For the sake of our experiment we are going to assume that you are visiting our website because you have a real genuine interest in seeking hypnosis treatment with us. This is to exclude visitors who are looking to send us marketing messages or our competitors who are checking up on our prices and service options. Therefore, you are a real person who wants to change or improve something in your life and you happened upon our hypnosis website.
So for the genuine help seeker, right now as you browse through our website you are automatically entering a hypnotic state. This hypnotic state is having a mental tug of war within your mind and this is all happening without your consent or knowledge. Let’s go into more detail.
You see, we are not always in total control of what is going on in our minds. In fact, many times our mind is making decisions for us and we have very little say so in what happens. Now, some decisions protect us from harm and are good while other decisions are clouded and are not so good. For example, people who smoke, drink alcohol excessively, do drugs or maybe snack on junk food all know that these things are harmful and wrong. Yet they continue to do them but why?
The reason why is because of our subconscious mind. With the exception of human survival instincts, which are genetically coded for us at birth, our subconscious mind really doesn’t do a great job at determining right from wrong. It simply records then plays back what it has already learned either from genetics, habits or from repetition.
Now, our mind is not without reasoning capabilities altogether. In fact we often make up plenty of reasons for doing something especially when we know it is bad for us. Some examples of positive reasoning are “smoking relaxes me” or “having a few drinks a day helps me cope with my daily stress”. This creates a partnership of doing something, which we know to be bad, and enforcing it with a good reason for doing it.
Once this partnership of habit and justification is bonded it is near to impossible to overcome because we now have a good reason for doing something that we know to be wrong. Presto, we have now successfully hypnotized ourselves into believing that there is a positive side to something negitive, which creates a reversal effect. “I am going to smoke this cigarette that I know is harmful, but it is going to calm me down and relax me” is a complete reversal of what you should be thinking which is “this cigarette is bad for me so I am NOT going to smoke it.”
And since the mind will always err on the side of what is good, since you have convinced yourself that smoking helps you, your mind now believes that it is making the right choice to smoke even though we know it to be wrong. And there you have it…your subconscious mind wins again while your body or health pays the price.
Thus far, do you still believe that you are in 100% total control of all your thoughts and actions?
Okay, let’s go one step further…
Is Hypnosis working for you or against you? Remember this question because it means a lot more than what is written. So again, assuming that you are here because you are seriously considering hypnosis for treatment as noted above, this mental tug of war is going on in your mind and the mind will always choose what it feels to be good, safe, secure or best for you.
So right now your mind is weighing all the options of going through with hypnosis by justifying all the pros and cons that we outlined below. Now, these are not actual pros and cons of using hypnosis but rather, they are some of the things that are most likely going through your own mind right now based upon past experience and what you believe to be right.
Pros:
Hypnosis may just help me out with my problem/issue
Cons:
My friends may laugh at me
I will just join a gym to lose weight
Hypnosis is too expensive
I don’t drink all that much
This stuff doesn’t work
I am not ready to change
I can’t be hypnotized
Maybe I will try that stop smoking patch or gum
I can quit smoking on my own
I will shop around for other websites
Those diet pills will work better
I don’t have the money right now
I tried hypnosis and it didn’t work
My family is going to think it is silly
I am afraid of being hypnotized
So based on the information above, which choice do you think you would normally make? Well, we will tend to bet that there is a good chance that we will not hear from you. And so what has happened is that you came here looking for hypnosis and ironically…hypnotized yourself right out of it. Since you mind reads the “cons” list above as positive reasons, you make the choice not to help yourself knowing that it was the wrong choice, just like when we light up that cigarette knowing it is the wrong choice.
Going back to our statement above “is hypnosis working for you or against you” the true meaning is this. The people who visit our page looking for hypnosis and decide “I will” have developed enough control over their minds to follow through with their intentions while ignoring the negitive suggestions that are trying to talk them out of it. Therefore, since they have developed the ability to follow through with what the know is right, hypnosis will work FOR them and they will be successful at changing.
In closing, lighting up that cigarette while knowing it is wrong proves that we don’t always have full control over our actions and that the minds often talks us into and out of things. Our own human hypnotic states exist and they are there working away every day. So you just need to decide if you are going to start to control it, or if you are going to continue to let it control you.

The Power of the Subconscious Mind
Think of the subconscious mind as the storage room of everything that is currently not in your conscious mind. It stores all your previous life experiences, your belief system, your memories, your skills, all situations you've been through, and all images you've ever seen. The best way to understand the subconscious mind is through the example of someone who's just started to learn how to drive a car.
At the beginning, he or she might hardly be able to hold a conversation with anyone while driving as they would be focusing entirely on the different moves involved with driving. That's because they are using their conscious mind to drive.
But within a few weeks, the driving process would begin to become automatic without having to do any thinking. Suddenly over a short period of time, the driver may even being performing other tasks such as using a cell phone or talking to passengers while they are driving. This is on account of the fact that the driving information or the process of driving has been transferred to the subconscious mind and so the conscious mind is free to function on something else, like talking or using a cell phone.
Sadly, this also contributes to the reason why most car accidents happen within 3 to 5 miles of your home. While driving within this radius, since it has become so routine or second nature, your conscience mind becomes so unaware of the actual task of driving, that it hardly even focuses on driving aspect at all.
In fact automobile insurance companies know this. That is why they may actually charge you more money and not less if you tell them that you only drive a few miles locally.
Now just the same as recording helpful information like driving, the subconscious mind also records not so nice things as well. For example, when you were a child, your main source of knowledge was your parents. If your parents pointed out an animal and told you that it was called a dog you immediately believed them. And since you also found that everyone around you supported this idea, it turned into a strong belief.
But what if your parents kept telling you that you were fool or dumb? What would be the result? Well, the result would be that you would grow up thinking that it's true, and you may end up feeling inferior without even knowing that this was the root cause for your feelings of inferiority.
Now, you may be asking yourself, what could be strengthening this belief? This time it would be you. Your subconscious mind would just pick every clue that supports this belief while ignoring everything else. For example, if someone rejected you the first thing that you would think of is that the reason why you were rejected must have been because you are dumb or a fool.
So how do we get rid of the bad items? Well, when you become hypnotized your conscious mind filters will get turned off. Doing so allows for creating new suggestions to replace the bad suggestions in your subconscious mind.
Going back to our driving example, when the information about driving is stored into your subconscious, it's stored as a program. Think of your mind as a computer and the driving information as software that can be run automatically whenever needed. The same goes for lots of other activities and emotions. Think of the case of someone shouting at you. The installed program of anger is launched and the result is a reactive behavior. Now your automatic reaction will depend on your programming. This programming may react by walking away or shouting back.
Through programming the subconscious mind with new programs, you can fix many problems in your personality, almost like removing a computer virus with virus removal software. Programming your subconscious can be done through hypnosis. The subconscious mind learns by repetition and not by logic. That is why you can convince someone to believe in something by repeating your argument again and again rather than using logic. Once the suggestion is repeated a few times, it becomes programmed into your subconscious mind and becomes second nature, just like driving a car.
