Foods That Help You Lose Weight

When a client visits our Rhode Island hypnosis office to help them lose weight they might be surprised to learn that it is not the "Hypnosis" itself that rakes the weight off. Instead hypnosis for weight loss is all about helping people change their way of thinking by creating a healthy lifestyle balance consisting of more nutritional foods, more exercise and less junk food snacking.

In fact, in a sort of ironic twist hypnosis is actually very similar to Food Programs or a diet. However, the key difference is that with hypnosis, your mind automatically desires the new healthy lifestyle changes so you don’t need to follow some program or rely on some diet plan. In addition, among other things hypnosis takes care of you becoming more active and fit, something that diets and food programs DO NOT do.

However, this is not a blog to compare hypnosis to any other service or product. Rather, it is about sharing the types of foods that we encourage people to eat.

As part of our hypnosis program, we encourage people to increase their daily fiber intake in the form of nutrient-rich high-fiber foods. Why fiber? Recent research in the Journal of Nutrition suggests eating more fiber as a way to prevent weight gain or even encourage weight loss.

Over the course of the two-year study, the researchers found that boosting fiber by 8 grams for every 1,000 calories resulted in about 4 ½ pounds of weight lost. So if you’re consuming 2,000 calories per day, aim to increase your fiber by 16 grams.

Sweet Potatoes
A medium-size baked sweet potato a little larger than your computer mouse with the skin included, offers 5 grams of fiber for just 103 calories. It’s also a nutrition powerhouse: providing 438% daily value of eye healthy vitamin A, 37% daily value of vitamin C, plus some potassium, vitamin E, iron, magnesium and phytochemicals like beta carotene, lutein and zeaxanthin

Pumpkin
A cup of cooked pumpkin contains 3 grams of fiber. You also get vitamin A (245% daily value), vitamins C, E and potassium.

Apples
A medium apple, which is 3-inch diameter contains 4 grams of fiber. A large apple, which is about 3¼-inch diameter has 5 grams of fiber. Apples also offer a bit of vitamin C and potassium.

Strawberries
One cup of strawberries contains 3 grams of fiber and more than a full day’s recommended dose of an antioxidant (vitamin C), which helps keep your skin healthy while boosting your immune system.

Green beans
One cup boasts 4 grams of fiber, plus a healthy dose of vitamin C (30% daily value).
.
Chickpeas
Just ¾ cup of chickpeas has a overwhelming 8 grams of fiber! You also get a good dose of vitamin B6 and folate, which play a role in forming healthy new cells.

Raspberries
They are a great source of fiber—some of it soluble in the form of pectin, which helps lower cholesterol. One cup of raspberries has 8 grams of fiber. Raspberries are also an excellent source of vitamin C.

And there you have it…a few foods that we encourage in our hypnosis weight loss programs, they actually taste pretty good, and they will also help you lose weight!
