53 Pounds!

I change my mind

Think of a time when you have tried to change or improve something in your life such as giving up cigarettes, losing weight, excising and more. Like most people, you probably purchased or used some kind of aid like diet pills, medications, a workout center membership or patches. Now, many of you most likely saw some pretty positive results for a period of time. However, you most likely ended up returning back to your old ways.

This is because when we try to change, we are trying to fix the physical action but doing nothing for the mental part which is actually the force that controls every single aspect of our lives right down to our decision making processes. And so although it is possible and even pretty easy to control the “here and now” part of our minds it is difficult to control the “recorded” elements that produce automatic actions.

Now, some folks reading this blog might be thinking “yeah right, I have total control over my own mind and what I do.” Think again! Here is a quick test you can perform right now as you are reading this blog. Raise your left or right arm up in the air, hold it up in the air for 5 seconds then put it back down. I’ll wait while you do this……..

Ok so you most likely had no problems performing this action. Great job!! Raising your arm and putting it down is an action that you have learned and have been doing almost since birth. And counting to 5 is also something that you learned at a young age. And so, all in all this was pretty easy for most people to do and this shows that you can control your actions with your mind right? We shall see…

Let’s move onto part 2 of the test. I want you to blink your eyes 5 times. All finished? Again for most people this should have proven to be a simple task and therefore, you have so far proven that you have very good control over your actions. EXCELENT!!!

Now here is part 3. You already know that you CAN control your arms and eyelid muscles with you mind because you were able to raise your arms and blink your eyes. Now, since you have total control over your actions, I want you to talk your mind into keeping your eyelids open without blinking. Remember that you used your mind to put your arm up and down and also to blink your eyes. So talking yourself into keeping your eyes open should be no problem. If or when you do blink your eyes you can continue reading on.

Ok, so if you are reading this next paragraph you failed the total mind control test because you told yourself not to blink your eyes yet you ended up doing so. What happened? Well, your mind basically told you to take a hike and decided on its own that it was not going to listen to your reasoning. And so, when your mind sensed that your eyes were getting dry, the automatic reaction caused you to blink no matter how determined you were to keep from doing so.

So let’s sum this all up. The mind records involuntary actions that will be needed in the future such as blinking your eyes, the beating of your heart, digesting food and more. Unfortunately, the definition of the word Habit is an acquired pattern of behavior that has become almost involuntary as a result of frequent repetition. Since habits like snacking on junk food, smoking cigarettes, fingernail biting and more become involuntary, you no longer need to tell your mind that you would like to perform these actions and they become second nature. The downside is that when it comes to a point when you want to stop doing these things, because they are now involuntary quitting is as difficult as keeping your eyes open without blinking.

This is the main reason why we so often hear people say that they had quit smoking for “X” number of years but started right back up again. Or that they lost “X” number of pounds but gained it all back. Quitting these habits with your mind alone make work for a while, however just like keeping your eyes open, your mind is going to keep saying “take a hike” until you finally give back into temptation. Now, we can try to rely on items that trick us. For example, stop smoking patches and gum supply us with nicotine and diet pills trick our minds into thinking that we are full. But using these items makes about as much sense as me constructing some kind of clamp to keep my eyelids from closing. Sure this clamp will keep them open while I am using it. However, as soon as I remove this clamp I will blink my eyes again. Therefore did I really fix anything?

The conclusion – while hypnosis does not truly “erase” involuntary actions, it does reprogram them so that the ending result is not the same. For example, I can’t erase eating from your memory but I can make it so that you crave carrot sticks instead of junk food when you get hungry. And I can’t erase cigarettes from your memory but I can make it so that instead of reaching for that smoke, instead you naturally reach for a glass of water or feel the urge to take a walk. So you see, this is why hypnosis works while other things fail. It gives us the opportunity to change where the habit truly lives…our minds.

Natural or Herbal Weight Loss Drugs

Natural or Herbal Weight Loss Drugs and Supplements - Contaminated and Dangerous!

Have you considered taking so-called natural or herbal weight loss drugs or supplements? You may not be aware that not all weight loss pills are considered safe, much less effective. That's been true for many years, but beginning in late 2008, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration called attention to 28 brands of weight loss drugs that are considered dangerous.

Why are they dangerous? Because they are contaminated with materials that are not tolerated by the human body and may cause debilitating side effects, even death. Those ingredients are undeclared, meaning, the packaging doesn't mention them. They may be counterfeit. They all claim to be "herbal" or "natural" and because they are considered "dietary supplements," they don't fall under the FDA approval process.

The FDA has determined most, if not all of these so called "natural" or herbal weight loss supplements, are manufactured in China. The dangerous ingredients include sibutramine, rimonabant, phenytoin, and phenolphthalein. These illegal weight loss drugs contain at least one, and sometimes more than one of these ingredients.

Sibutramine is a controlled substance, and is found in Meridia which has been approved to be sold in the United States by prescription. However, the amounts found in the illegal drugs and supplements are up to three times the amount found in Meridia. Because of the high levels of sibutramine, those who take any of these illegal versions may be subject to increased blood pressure, tachycardia, palpitations, or seizures.

Rimonabant is a drug that has not been approved in the United States, and has been responsible for a handful of deaths in other parts of the world. It has not been approved because it has been found to cause increased risk of neurological and psychiatric side effects - seizures, depression, anxiety, insomnia, aggressiveness, and suicidal thoughts among patients.

Phenolphthalein used to be found in laxatives until it was removed from them in the late 1990s when it was found to be a carcinogen (meaning, causes cancer) and was also found to be responsible for changes in DNA.

Phenytoin is found only in trace amounts in some of these illegal supplements. It has been used in the manufacture of Dilantin which is an approved anti-seizure drug, but which is not indicated for those who do not have seizures.

The FDA makes it clear that since natural or herbal weight loss drugs are considered to be "dietary supplements" they do not fall under the FDA's purview. You can check the most current list of banned weight loss drugs at the FDA website.

Why Diets Fail Us

Ever try to lose weight with a trendy, so-called "diet" or weight-loss gimmick only to experience frustration and failure? You're not alone. These types of plans often set you up for failure...but why? Here are the 6 main reasons:

1. Diets deprive us: Many diets involve eliminating certain foods or even whole food groups. This is not only unhealthy but also unrealistic for the long term weight loss.

2. Diets are temporary. Once they have reached their goal, most people go back to "normal" eating, so the weight comes back.

3. Diets often don't fit into normal life. Weighing and measuring food may help you lose weight, but aren't practical as long-term strategies for most people.

4. Diets can be expensive. Buying special foods can rack up a big bill quickly.

5. Diets can actually lower your metabolism. When you drastically cut back on calories, your metabolism tends to slow down. You burn fewer calories and the diet becomes less effective.

6. A diet is only half of the equation. Lifetime weight management is not just about what you eat. It requires a long-term plan of action.

And there you have it. If you are looking to shed a quick pound or two on a short term basis a diet may help you, so long as you understand that a diet will NEVER actually change your life. Accept this reality and you won't be so let down in the end when your weight goes right back to where it was before the diet.

More Proof That Hypnosis Is The Way To Go!


Now, before I get started I just want to mention that I like Kirstie Alley and I am not picking on her. But I do have a burning question that needs to be answered…what happened to that wonderful Jenny Craig weight loss program? I guess it was just another prime example that weight loss programs and diets do not really work. If you want to change even your body, you have to change your mind first.

Here at Positive Change Hypnosis we are constantly telling people that in order to create change, even when it comes to changing our bodies, the change itself has to be created in our minds. This is because when we have to constantly think about the change itself, we are then solely relying on willpower and conscious thoughts, which can be difficult.

Think about driving a car or simply walking down the street for a moment. When you are driving a car or taking a walk down the street most of the actions that you performing are automatic and come natural to you. While drive a car, you do not have to think about it each time you apply the gas or the break. The same goes for walking. When you are taking a walk, do you really have to think about putting one foot in front of the other?

These actions come natural to us because while we are performing them, our subconscious minds are running on autopilot and doing the work for us. And so, when we want to change something in our lives, it simply makes all the sense in the world to change our way of think about it.

Take into consideration losing weight and quitting smoking. When we try to quit smoking or lose weight many people rely on willpower only. Although we are putting forth our best efforts, we are still left with the lingering thoughts of cigarettes or food floating around in our minds. And because these reminders remain in our minds we are constantly fighting the urges to overcome them.

People stand a better chance of success by using hypnosis because it allows us to change something in our lives by removing or change our thoughts about it. In essence, if you brain no longer craves cigarettes or snacks, it will naturally be easier to stop smoking or lose weight because you are no longer thinking about these things.

Bewear of the Acai Berry weight loss scam

Acai Berry: The $100 Million Dollar Weight Loss Scam

Attorney general of Connecticut, Richard Blumethal, announced an investigation into the business practices and questionable science associated with Acai berry products. which has been primarily pitched by Internet-based companies as a wonder treatment for weight-loss.

If you spend any time online, you have surely seen ads with the headlines, “Oprah’s Diet Secret”, “Seven Rules to a Flat Stomach, or (the worst) “Amy’s weight loss blog”, “Karen’s weight loss blog”, etc… on almost every page online.

If you actually clicked on one of these ads, you probably ended up on what looked like a blog with a before and after picture of some woman who has lost weight. She then tells a story about how she saw Dr. Mehmet OZ and Oprah say that Acai is a miracle diet food. It might also mention Rachael Ray.

The woman then says she tried it herself and the pounds just came flying off. It is kind of believable as it looks like a real person and there are even comments on her blog. There then is a link to one of the many companies selling Acai Berry on a free trial basis.

So what is the Problem with posting blogs about what is supposed to be such a great product?
Well, the first problem here (one among many) is that these blogs are all fake!

The woman depicted on Tara’s Diet Blog, Olivia’s Weight Loss blog, Alicia’s Diet Blog, Becky’s Weight Loss blog, and at least 75 other blogs is a German model named Julia who has nothing to do with Acai or any weight-loss product. The German photographer who made the original photos of her available on Istockphoto.com said the pill companies manipulated some of the “after” images to give the impression of weight loss.

Now, the people running the blogs are definitely a part of the problem, but they are not the cause. These are just opportunist people who see an easy way to make a buck by promoting what is considered by many to be the biggest diet pill hoax of the 21st century.

Although they are not “associated” with the folks who market the pills, they are affiliates who get paid an ungodly amount of money every time they send these people a free trial through one of these blogs.

Here is the next problem. Acai Berry Will Not Help You Lose Weight

In truth, Açai has less antioxidants than concord grapes, blueberries, and black cherries. But more importantly, there isn’t even any credible evidence that suggests antioxidants promote weight loss.

The attorney general from Connecticut says it more strongly,

“There is no competent scientific research that demonstrates any of the claimed effects of Acai berry, including weight loss, detoxification and increased energy and vitality.”

And so we dig a bit deeper to the third problem. Oprah Did NOT Endorse Acai Berry

And the truth about the Oprah show with Dr. Oz is that they never mentioned Acai as a weight loss aide, but rather just that many fruits that were healthy (like tomatoes). In fact, on Oprah’s website they have a statement out that says,

“Consumers should be aware that Oprah Winfrey is not associated with nor does she endorse any Açaí Berry product or online solicitation of such products.”

And so just to be clear, there is no Acai Berry supplement endorsed by Oprah, Dr. Perricone, Rachel Ray or Dr. Oz.

So why am I posting this information?

Simply put, some people want to improve their lives and change their habits so badly, that they will often fall ptey to scams such as this in hopes of doing so. And again here is yet another example that there is no Miracle Magic Pill that can change your life

The only thing that products like these will help you lose is your hard earned money.
