How many good Summers do you have left?

So I came across this phase from a website that I was visiting on the Internet. Now, in an effort not to bore anyone, although I will not go into great detail about the exact reason for this quote, this person was ultimately talking about how short life was and how people need to get out and make the most of it.

Naturally after reading this saying I began to think about my own experiences and how it relates to the life I have created and built for myself. I also began to think about how we as humans very often put off until tomorrow, what we should and could be doing today.

Now, hopefully many people who are reading this blog post have been able to accomplish most if not all of their goals and dreams in life. Or maybe you are currently in the process of fulfilling your goals and dreams by attending school or working on that job promotion and such. Either way, if you are on the right track to personal success then congratulations. But the sad reality is that many people have had certain goals and dreams in life that just never happened. This is because in most cases they never seemed to find time to make these goals and dreams a reality.

Now, I will be the fist to admit that life can be very busy and sometimes overwhelming. However, life also waits for nobody. If you do not jump onboard, life will pass you by and very quickly. I mean when you think about it, reflecting back on the past five years or so will make even the most well balanced individual scratch their head and wonder, where did the time go?

That being said, it is never too late to hit the breaks and bring things to a halt while putting things into perspective. Now, I am certainly not suggesting that you can stop time from going by. However, it is never too late to re-evaluate where you are in life, where you want to go in life, and how you are going to go about changing your life in order to get there.

We begin to die as soon as we stop living. What I mean by this is that no matter how young or old you may be, there is still life in you, or at least you need to believe that there is. Maybe that is what motivates the 50 or 60 year old Grandmother or Grandfather to go back to college and receive their degree. Or maybe that is what motivates that 45-year-old housewife to finally start her own business. Look at Sonny Bono and Arnold Schwarzenegger, an entertainer and movie actor who both pursued a career in politics. There are many examples of people doing things like this everyday and why? Because they have decided that there is more life left inside of them.

The bottom line here is that changing your life is the easy part. The hard part is making the decision to begin your journey then following through with it. So the next time you decide that would love to change “this” in your life or you wish you could accomplish “that” in you life, before you put if off until tomorrow which never really comes, ask yourself this…”How many good Summers do you have left?” Each one that flys by is one less.
